Medical Imaging component manufacturer Smit Röntgen, a Philips brand, is a leading manufacturer capable of controlled processing pure tungsten via the additive manufacturing technique Powder Bed Laser Melting. This novel and unique 3D printing technology offers great freedom of design and allows custom-made, highly complex shaped parts to be manufactured from pure tungsten.
From the start, Smit Röntgen has collaborated with EOS GmbH to develop extensive know-how on every step of the process by feeding back all the knowledge we acquire. As a result Smit Röntgen became the first EOS GmbH service provider for the refractory metal pure tungsten. By joining forces with this technology and market leader for design-driven additive manufacturing solutions, Smit Röntgen is continuously redefining the use of Powder Bed Laser Melting for large volume additive manufacturing of pure tungsten parts.
Our focus lies on innovative product and process development. In order to further develop this additive manufacturing process we have invested extensively in production, post-processing and measurement equipment. The availability of verification and validation facilities in-house is key for the development of additive manufacturing process in order to ensure short design cycles.
